'A Slice of Paris in the Heart of Singapore' is there motto title on this touch of Paris of serving French classic and a comprehensive well curated but accessible wine list with cocktails to wash down or start the night off! Opened in March 2012 and named after the playwright and French novelist Honoré de Balzac this place gives you a laid back environment of a casual bistro style environment at affordable prices. The French décor and unpretentious vibe makes you feel right at home boasting to be one of the best French restaurants in Singapore.

The Award Winning Chef Jean-Charles Dubois from Angers in Loire Valley, France (first runner-up of the 'Best Chef in France from Le Chef Magazine) creates his signature French Classics giving you a touch of home from local favourites and family recipes. In 2007 he was awarded the 'Rising Chef of the Year' at the World Gourmet Summit and in 2010 he was decorated from the French Ministry of Agriculture 'Chevalier dans l'Ordre du Merite Agricole'.

Entrée classic is the Lobster Bisque with sautéed Qwehli prawns sounds a truly sumptuous classic. Balzac's Beef Cheeks a la Cuillere is another house favourite from Wagyu beef cheek served with Bordelaise sauce and warm truffle mashed potatoes. Deserts to follow are the traditional rice puddings of Riz au Lit or Mamie Dubois.

Set lunch menus are available for 2 courses @ S$25 or 3 courses for S$33 from Mon-Thurs (not including public holidays) and the plat du jour changes daily depending on inspiration and availability of fresh ingredients. On the weekends spoil yourself with an authentic French brunch with champagne for S$128 or the classic for S$68 between 11am-3pm.

Reminiscing of the French bistros in Paris the décor of the Balzac Brasserie has sourced their furnishings direct from the City of Romance itself. Café chairs of Paris and cast iron and wooden tables with an antique zinc bar, French tiles picturing farm scenes and an antique beer dispenser give this establishment its authentic feel. Strewn also with antique books and bottles searched at Flea markets to give you that extra feeling of home.

Try a tipple or 2 of an inspired cocktail concocted with typically French ingredients while you sit back and enjoy or the 14 choices of wine by the glass including champagne, rosé or desert wines to tantalize your tastebuds.

With a capacity of 90 and a standing capacity of 150 this is the perfect venue for company events or meetings and can be designed for a comfortable and successful outcome. How about a Wedding party Paris style or celebrating birthdays or graduations? Perhaps a photo shoot or order catering directly the choice could be yours.

Balzac Brasserie is hoping to expand in the SE Asian region in 2014. The Bras Besah current location provides ample parking for corporate clients and the local entourage. Updating their set lunch menus every 2 weeks and participating in events such as the Singapore Night Festival (27th & 28th July and 3rd & 4th August), Grand Prix occasions and a special communal menu for Bastille Day (a communal sharing menu of 4 courses for S$78++ on the 13th & 14th July for lunch and dinner) there is certainly a lot to get involved in!
