Kushikatsu, famous in Osaka, is a Japanese-style of deep-fried kebab made with beef. pork, chicken, seafood, and vegetables skewered on bamboo kushi. They are dipped in egg, flour, and special bread crumbs and deep-fried in special oil like Tonkatsu. You dip them in a container filled with special sauce and eat. Such container is shared with other customers and so prohibits dipping Kushikatsu twice. It is famous habit and make the food interesting.

"Kushikatsu Tanaka" is conspicuous in F&B venture these days in Japan. Setagaya outlet in December, 2008 was opened as the first store in Tokyo, and 16 stores are developed by direct management and franchise now. FOUR SEEDS operating "PIZZA-LA" started "Kushikatsu Dengana" in Shibuya in April, 2008. It operates 20 stores at the present by direct management and franchise  in Kawasaki and Omiya, Tokyo. Both brands are starting almost simultaneously and has almost the same scale.

The two brands collide in Akabane, Tokyo. "Kushikatsu Dengana" opend there in this March. Its address is 1-15-1, Akabane, Kita-ku, Tokyo. And "Kushikatsu Tanaka" will open an outlet to nearby 1-10-6, Akabane at the end of October. A do-or-die contest is set about.

"Kushikatsu Bakubaku" is also popular. Mr.Takuya Nakata, the former president of Bagus, amusement company. bought the outlet in Okubo, Tokyo and is devising to chain by direct management and franchise. It is 3 outlets now and 4th has been decided. When I went to the Yotsuya 3-chome outlet opened in this August, customers came to the outlet next from the next. in spite of rainy weather. As for "Kushikatsu Bakubaku", unlike the two above-mentioned brands, Kushikatsu is offered through a course.

Kushikatsu is likely to become the center of attention into a boom about the combat at close quarters of Akabane. Even so, the companies of the 3 brands are in Tokyo, although all of them state "the taste of home Osaka."  Why do not home Osaka Kushikatsu come to Tokyo? It is deplorable -- Osaka!
