Michelin-star chef Mak Kwai Pui keeps the standard at Tim Ho Wan's Singapore branch high - even if one is having dim sum.

Chef Mak woos Singapore with his freshly made food.

Dim sum - bite-sized Cantonese food served in steamer baskets - is a great way to kick-start the day, and Tim Ho Wan brings the true essence of Cantonese culinary experience in a contemporary style by serving popular dishes.

Promising diners an authentic taste of Cantonese cuisines, the restaurant offers slightly over 50 dainty dim sum dishes and drool-worthy rice and noodle dishes piously prepared overnight. Of course, the best way to sample as many of chef Mak's signature dishes is to eat family style, or try the highly acclaimed 'Four Heavenly Kings'. The Four Heavenly Kings consists of four all-time favorite dim sum cooked to perfection: char siew baked buns, steamed egg cake, vermicelli with pig's liver rolls, and pan-fried carrot cake. The vermicelli with pig's liver rolls in particular, is soft and easy to chew, making it an ideal dish for anyone to have. On the menu, other must-tries include the crumbly, sweet and salty char siew bao (pork bun), crispy spring roll with egg white, har gow (steamed prawn dumplings), and pan-fried carrot cake. If you're planning on having a satisfying midday meal, have a go at the restaurant's baked rice with chicken feet and pork ribs. You're guaranteed to feel satisfied after your meal.

Mmm...presenting Tim Ho Wan's wildly popular crispy and flaky pork buns, which are a hot sell!

What makes Tim Ho Wan special that diners keep coming back for more goodies are price and food quality. Each dish is priced affordably and served fresh; you can taste the original flavors and essence of the ingredients. Says chef Mak: "[Here, we] serve only fresh dim sum - we make our dim sum after our diners place their order." It's no wonder people are willing to stand in line for hours just to secure a seat. Not forgetting that the restaurant is blessed with a great location (it's conveniently located at Plaza Singapura), replete with a spacious interior which makes for a classy setting to dine in, anytime. So what can you say? Every part of this restaurant is a taste of Hong Kong that shouldn't be missed!
